Agnieszka Brustman (born July 31, 1962 in Warsaw ) is a Polish chess master .

Life

Brustman was the leading Polish chess player in the 1980s. As a junior she won numerous international titles: in 1980 she won the European Youth Championship U20 women, in 1982 the Junior World Championship U20 women. In 1980 she was the first player to receive the newly introduced title FIDE Women's Champion (WFM) from the World Chess Federation FIDE , and in 1982 she became International Women's Champion .

In 1985 she became the Women's Grand Master (WGM). She qualified twice for the Women's Candidates Tournament . She won the Polish women's championship four times (1982, 1984, 1987 and 1996).

Brustman gained popularity in Poland beyond chess when she became an actress in 1988 and appeared in the Polish feature film series Dekalog .

She is listed as inactive by FIDE because she has not played a rated game since the 22nd Open in Cappelle-la-Grande in February 2006 .

National team

Brustman took part in all nine Chess Olympiads with the Polish women's team from 1980 to 1996 . At the 1980 Chess Olympiad in Valletta she reached third place with the team and second place among reserve players in the individual ranking.

She took part in the European Women's Team Championships in 1992 and 1997.

Brustman played in the Polish team championship from 1977 to 1990 for WKSz Legion Warsaw , with whom she also took part in the European Club Cup 1985/86, and from 1992 to 2002 for Polonia Warsaw .

She won the Polish team championship in 1980 , 1984 , 1986 , 1989 , 1996 , 1999 , 2000 and 2002 ; Brustman achieved the best individual results on the women's board in 1983, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1996 and 1998.
