I league (chess) 1986
The I league (chess) 1986 was the 17th edition of the I league and the 42nd Polish team championship in chess . The team from WKSz Legion Warszawa was the Polish team champion, while the defending champion MZKS Pocztowiec Poznań took eleventh place and was relegated to the II league. KS Kolejarz Katowice and BBTS Włókniarz Bielsko-Biała were promoted from the II league. Both promoted players achieved relegation, but in addition to MZKS Pocztowiec Poznań and KS Maraton Warszawa had to relegate.

mode
The twelve teams played a simple round-robin tournament on six boards, with a woman standing on the sixth board. The last two were relegated to the II league and were replaced by the winners of the two seasons of the II league. The total of the additional points from the Polish youth team championship (15% of the points achieved there for teams that played in the I league of the youth team championship, 10% for teams that played in the II league of the youth team championship, rounded to half) initially decided on the placement Points) and the number of board points (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of board points and then the number of team points (two points for a win, one point for a Tie, no point for loss).
