The Polish team championship in chess in 1955 was the eleventh edition of this competition. Polish team champion was the team from AZS Gliwice, while the defending champion ZS Ogniwo Kraków (who came after the merger with ZS Spójnia Kraków as ZS Sparta Kraków) had to be content with fifth place. As in the previous year, the competition was held on ten boards, but the checkers board had been abolished. It was also compulsory to line up a youth (on the ninth board) and a woman (on the tenth board).
Forty teams had qualified for the preliminary round in the championships of the voivodeships (six of which, however, did not start). These played a simple round-robin tournament in four groups . For the final round, which was also held as a simple round-robin tournament, the top three in each group qualified. The first eight of the finals qualified directly for the next finals. The number of team points (two points for a win, one point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of board points (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point) decided on the placement for defeat).

The final round took place in Wrocław from August 21st to September 4th .
