Marco Ziem (born November 25, 1966 in Brandenburg (Havel) ; † September 28, 2013 there ) was a German soccer player who played in the GDR Oberliga in 1990 for BSG Stahl Brandenburg and BSV Stahl Brandenburg .

Athletic career

Ziem first played nationally in 1984/85 for Stahl Brandenburg in the GDR junior league. After he had become eligible to play for the men's division, he moved to the second-rate GDR league for BSG Motor Babelsberg for the 1985/86 season . There he played five point games before he was drafted into military service for 18 months in May 1986. During this time he was given the opportunity to continue to play football in the GDR league with the ASG Vorwärts Dessau army sports association . There he was used in 18 point games in 1986/87 (one goal) and completed eleven point games in the season 1987/88 to October 1987. Then Ziem moved to the GDR league club Motor Ludwigsfelde , but was only used there in the first half of the 1989/90 season.

At the beginning of 1990, BSG Stahl Brandenburg brought Ziem into their league team. There he was used as a substitute in two league games until the end of the season. The newly founded BSV Stahl Brandenburg in May 1990 took over Ziem and used him as a defender in the first division point games six and seven of the NOFV Oberliga season 1990/91 . When the BSV was incorporated into the 2nd Bundesliga for the 1991/92 season , Ziem was no longer part of the squad and did not return to higher-class football.
