The Polish team championship in chess in 1954 was the tenth edition of this competition. The team from ZS Ogniwo Kraków was the Polish team champion in a balanced final round, while the defending champion ZS Ogniwo Warszawa failed in the preliminary round. For the first time, the competition was held on ten boards, with a youth placed on the eighth board, a woman on the ninth board, while checkers were played on the tenth board .
For the preliminary round, 32 teams had qualified in the championships of the voivodships (two of which, however, did not start). These played a simple round-robin tournament in four groups . For the final round, which was also carried out as a simple round-robin tournament, the first two in each group qualified. The number of points on the board (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of team points (two points for a win, one point for a draw, no point) decided the placement for defeat).
Dates and venue
The preliminary rounds were played between January 24th and March 7th, the final round took place in Warsaw from April 3rd to 11th .
