I league (chess) 2001
The I league (chess) 2001 was the 30th edition of the I league and the 57th Polish team championship in chess . The team from KS Polonia Plus GSM Warszawa became the Polish team champion for the third time in a row. KSz Devo-Maraton Łomża, KSz Porto Balbo Bielsko-Biała and KSz Gambit Świecie were promoted from the II league last year. Łomża and Bielsko-Biała achieved relegation (but both withdrew their teams), while Świecie and LKSz Drakon-Leasing Fabryczny Lublin were relegated directly. The last time the competition was called I league , since 2002 the class has been called Ekstraliga , while the I league is only the second highest division.
For information on the team squad, see the I league (chess) 2001 team squad .
mode
The ten teams played a simple round-robin tournament on six boards, with a woman standing on the sixth board. The last two placed were relegated to the I league and were replaced by the winners of the two seasons of the II league. The number of points on the board (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of team points (two points for a win, one point for a draw, no point) decided the placement for defeat).
Date and venue
The tournament was held from September 8 to 16 in the Dukes' Palace in Głogów ( Zamek Książąt Głogowskich ).
