Bartosz Soćko (born November 10, 1978 in Piaseczno ) is a Polish chess player .

Life

As a teenager, Soćko won the Polish U16 championship in 1994 and the U18 championship in 1995. He has regularly participated in the championships of Poland since 1995 . In 2003 and 2005 he was runner-up, and in 2008 he won the Polish individual championship for the first time. He has held the title of Grand Master since 1999 . In 2006 Soćko won the Rubinstein Memorial in Polanica-Zdrój together with Robert Kempiński . Bartosz Soćko took part in the World Chess Cup twice. In 2007 he reached the second round by beating Vladimir Georgiev , in which he failed to Zoltán Almási , in 2011 he was defeated by Viktor Bologan in the first round . His wife Monika (née Bobrowska) also holds the title of grandmaster. The couple has three children.

National team

Soćko has been a member of the Polish national team since the late 1990s. He took part in all eight Chess Olympiads from 2000 to 2014 and all eight European team championships from 1999 to 2013. At the 2000 Chess Olympiad in Istanbul he won the bronze medal for his individual result on the fourth board, and at the 2003 European team he achieved the second-best individual result of the reserve players.

In the Polish team championship Soćko played for Polonia Warsaw from 1994 to 2008 , with whom he became Polish team champion in 1996 , 1999 , 2000 , 2001 , 2002 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 and 2006 , won the Polish Supercup in 2001, 2003 and 2004, and with eight participations in the European Club Cup reached five second places. Since 2009 he has played for the team of WASKO HetMaN Szopienice (since 2015 WASKO HETMAN Katowice), with which he became Polish team champion in 2010 , 2013 , 2015 , 2016 , 2017 , 2018 and 2019 .

In Germany Soćko played in the 1996/97 season with the second team of Hamburger SK in the 2nd Bundesliga North. In the 1999/2000 season he played for the Dresdner SC in the 1st Bundesliga, from 2003 to 2009 he played at SC Kreuzberg in the German Bundesliga . From 2010 to 2017 Soćko played for USV TU Dresden , including in the 2011/12 season and from the 2014/15 season to the 2016/17 season in the 1st Bundesliga. Since the 2018/19 season he has been playing for the chess department of FC St. Pauli in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the Austrian 1st Bundesliga , he played for SK Advisory Invest Baden from 2007 to 2013 , with whom he became champions in 2007/08 and 2011/12 and took part in the 2008 European Club Cup. In the Czech Extraliga Soćko played in the 2001/02 season for the ŠK DP Holdia Prague and from 2003 to 2006 for the ŠK Hagemann Opava (from 2004 ŠK Lokomotiva Brno ), with whom he became Czech team champion in 2004 . Soćko has been playing for AD Mahrla Prague since 2015 . In the Swedish Elitserien he has been playing for SK Rockaden Stockholm since the 2014/15 season and became Swedish team champion with them in 2016 , in the Spanish team championship he played for CA Alzira-Hilaturas Presencia in 2005 and 2007 . He won the Slovak Extra League in 2019 with TJ Inbest Dunajov .
