Tomasz Markowski (born July 30, 1975 in Głogów ) is a Polish chess master .
Life
In 1993 Markowski qualified for the Polish championship for the first time and in the same year won both the Polish rapid chess and the blitz championship . Since that time he has been one of the top Polish players. 1998 awarded him FIDE the Grandmaster title . Between 1993 and 2007 he took part in the state championship 14 times and won eight medals: five gold (1993, 1998, 1999, 2003, 2007), one silver (2000) and two bronze medals (1995 and 2002). In 2000 he was third at the European Individual Championships in Saint-Vincent . Other international successes include tournament victories in Geneva in 1995 and 2000 as well as a shared second place at the Biel Open in 2001 and a third place behind Giovanni Vescovi and Pjotr Swidler at the busy Bermuda tournament in 2003. At the European Rapid Championship in December 2007 in Warsaw he came second. In February 2008 he won the Palatinate Open in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse with 7.5 points from 9 games.
National team
He took part in all five Chess Olympiads for Poland from 1994 to 2002 and achieved 59.5 percent (+17 = 16 −9). At the 2002 Olympics in Bled , he achieved an outstanding result as the second reservist: +7 = 3 −0 (85 percent). From 1999 to 2005 he represented Poland at all four European team championships , in 2005 he achieved the best individual result of all reserve players in Gothenburg .

In the Polish team championship in 1994, 1996 and 1997 Markowski played for MOK Chrobry Głogów , from 1998 to 2001 for the team of KSz Stilon Gorzów Wielkopolski , with whom he became champion in 1998 and took part in the European Club Cup in the same year , from 2002 to 2005 for Polonia Warsaw , with whom he became champion in 2002 , 2003 , 2004 and 2005 , also won the Polish Supercup in 2002 and 2004 and took part in the European Club Cup three times, taking second place with the team in 2002 and 2004, in 2009 and 2011 for KSz Odrodzenie Kożuchów , 2014, 2015 and 2017 for Akademia Szachowa Future Processing Gliwice and since 2019 for the Szachowy Silesia Racibórz Club . In the German Federal Chess League he played for König Plauen from 2001 to 2004 , in the Czech Extra League in the 2007/08 season for runner-up ŠK Mahrla Prague and in the 2016/17 season for ŠK Slavoj Ostrava-Poruba and in the 2005 Spanish team championship for CA Alzira-Hilaturas Presencia .
