Kacper Piorun (born November 24, 1991 in Łowicz ) is a Polish chess player. He is a grandmaster , a grandmaster in solving chess compositions and a five-time world champion in solving chess compositions.

Career

In 2007 Piorun won the Polish championship in the U-16 age group. He took part twice for Poland in the European U-18 Team Championship. In 2008 he won gold on board three with 6.5 points from 7 games in the individual ranking and with the team. The next year he played on the second board and took silver with the team (+2 = 4 −1). In 2010 he won the Rubinstein Memorial in Polanica-Zdrój . In the same year he also took third place at the World Youth Championship. In 2013 he became the Polish master of blitz chess in Bydgoszcz . In the same year he took part in the European team championship in Warsaw for the second team of Poland . In 2015 he won the 17th Open from Sants, Hostafrancs & La Bordeta and the 19th Open International Bavarian Championship in Bad Wiessee . In March 2017, he won the Polish national championship for the first time in Warsaw . Piorun scored 6 points from 9 games and had the better evaluation than Jacek Tomczak with the same points . In July 2020, Piorun was again national champion. He won in the final of the knockout system with 16 participants against Daniel Sadzikowski .

Piorun is very good at solving chess compositions . In 2011 he won the world chess composition tournament in Jesi and was thus awarded the title of Grand Master in solving chess compositions . He was able to repeat this success in Berne 2014, Ostróda 2015, Belgrade 2016 and Dresden 2017. In addition, he was team world champion in chess composition five times with the Polish team.

Piorun has played in the Polish Ekstraliga since 2010 for the team of KSz STILON Gorzów Wielkopolski , in the Czech Extra League since 2014 for TJ Ancora Tatran Litovel , in the Slovak Extra League since 2018 for the team of TJ Inbest Dunajov , with whom he won the 2019 championship. In the German Bundesliga , he played for SV Griesheim from 2012 to 2014 , and has played for Schachfreunde Berlin since 2014 . In the Spanish División de Honor, Piorun plays for Equigoma Casa Social Catolica in 2016 , and in the French Top 12 since 2017 for Tremblay-en-France .
