Andrei Wladimirowitsch Seliwanow ( Russian Андрей Владимирович Селиванов ; born July 9, 1967 in Karpinsk ) is a Russian chess official and chess composer .

Selivanov was President from April 1997 to April 2003 and has been Honorary President of the Russian Chess Federation since then . Since September 1997 he has been Vice President of the World Chess Federation . In 2009 he was awarded the title of Grand Master in Chess Composition after he was already Grand Master of Russia and International Referee for Chess Composition . He won six world titles, including three for composition and three for solving chess problems and studies. He achieved these successes twice in the Russian team and once solo. In Russia, Ukraine, Slovakia, Poland and Germany, Selivanov has earned other titles and medals for solving chess problems.

Selivanov has created more than 450 chess compositions, more than half of which have received awards. At the beginning of his career he composed studies with a few stones. In recent years, he has focused on self-matting tasks, including numerous miniatures.

Selivanov is a clerk for chess compositions at the magazines Uralsky Problemist and Schachmatnaja Komposizija and publishes the Uralsky Problemist book series .

Private

In 1984 Selivanov finished secondary school and in 1985 an apprenticeship as a machinist . After completing his legal training at the Uralsk State Academy, Selivanov completed military service from 1985 to 1987 in the group of the Soviet armed forces in Germany, Selivanov then worked as a Komsomol secretary in a forestry company and in the Komsomol office of an ore processing company in Krasnoturinsk . From 1990 to 1992 Seliwanow worked for the magazine "Sarja Urala". In 1990 he was elected as a member of the Krasnoturinsk City Council, where he was chairman of the Youth Affairs Commission from January 1992. From December 1993 to December 2003, Selivanov was a member of the Duma for three terms . From April 2002 he was chairman of the committee for labor and social policy. Since April 2004, Selivanov has been Deputy Head of the Federal Labor and Employment Services.

Selivanov received various awards and medals in the field of physical culture and sports. He is an honorary citizen of Serov Rajons . Selivanov is married and has three daughters.
