Josif Michailowitsch Kricheli ( Georgian იოსებ კრიხელი ; Russian Иосиф Михайлович Крихели ; born May 10, 1931 in Tskhinvali , † September 22, 1988 in Sukhumi ) was a Soviet - Georgian grandmaster for chess composition .

Chess composition

At the age of 16 Kricheli began to occupy himself with chess composition . He was successful in every area of ​​composition. His lengthy logical tasks are well known. When composing studies , he often chose classic topics such as stalemate , positional draw and topics from the field of chess problems. He wrote dozens of articles on chess composition and created 1,500 compositions. In 1984 he was awarded the grandmaster title for chess composition .

Life

Kricheli was born in South Ossetia . He was a doctor of physics. At the All Union Congress of Chess Composers in Sukhumi he died surprisingly on the chessboard.
