A positional draw is a situation in chess in which neither player can win if both sides play correctly. The game then ends in a draw .
The positional draw is a popular topic in the study composition . The position opposite shows the conclusion of a study. White can make waiting moves with the bishop between c2 and b1. This keeps a tower tied up . The other tower is tied to the cover of the tied tower and the fetter can only be released by losing the tower.
Black can only continue the game if he surrenders one of his rooks, but even then the resulting rook versus bishop endgame remains a draw.
