Artur Mandler
Artur Mandler (born January 5, 1891 in Humpolec , † October 20, 1971 in Prague ) was a Czech chess composer .
Life
Since 1908, Mandler published about 1000 chess problems and studies . In addition, he was a versatile chess journalist. From 1955 to 1956 he edited the section for chess compositions in the journal Československý šach . In 1956 he was appointed International Chess Composition Judge. Until 1965 he worked as an editor for the international chess magazine FIDE Revue .
Since 1966 he was FIDE International Master for Chess Composition . In 1968 he became Honored Master of Sports in Czechoslovakia. He was awarded the title of Grand Master of Chess Composition posthumously in 2012.
Mandler made some contributions to endgame theory . The following quality endgame tower versus springer was one of the areas he examined intensively.
