Brigitte Girardin

Brigitte Girardin (born January 12, 1953 in Verdun ( Meuse )) is a French politician and diplomat (ex Union pour un mouvement populaire , today République solidaire ).

After graduating from the Lycée Marguerite de Verdun, she continued her education at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne , where she obtained a law degree. She graduated from the Institut d'études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) in Paris.

She is married and has two children.

At the headquarters of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Girardin was responsible for personnel management and general administration from 1976 to 1978. Between 1978 and 1981 she was responsible for economic relations between France and the countries of Central and East Africa, as well as in the administration of African and Malagasy affairs.

Since 2002 she has been Minister for the Overseas Departments in the Cabinet Raffarin I , Cabinet Raffarin II and Cabinet Raffarin III . In 2009 she left the UMP and joined the new party "République solidaire" of the French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin , where she holds the position of general secretary and party spokeswoman.

A new chapter in life began for Brigitte Girardin in 2015 as an advisor to the French Court of Auditors, Cour des Comptes .
