Marjan Kovačević

Marjan Kovačević ( Serbian - Cyrillic Марјан Ковачевић ; born April 8, 1957 ) is a Serbian chess composer .

Chess composition

At the third world championship of chess composition, he took 2nd place in the 2nd division in fairy tale chess . At the seventh world championship he was the second most successful composer behind Ukrainian Valentin Rudenko (108 points) with 86.5 points. In this event he took third place in the three-moves and second place in fairytale chess. With the Serbian national team he was able to win world championship titles and the 2nd European championship in solving chess problems and studies in 2006 in Warsaw .

In 2007 the PCCC awarded him the title of Grand Master of Chess Composition . He has been a grandmaster in solving chess compositions since 1988, his solving rating is 2557 (as of July 1, 2012, 19th in the world rankings), his highest score to date is 2697. Since 1989 he has been the international judge for two-men. For Serbia, the Zemun resident is a delegate to the PCCC.

Marjan Kovačević has written books on chess compositions and chess articles, for example reviews for Mat Plus, the Serbian problem solving society and chess articles for the Belgrade daily Politika . He also published several series of plastic-coated beer coasters with chess compositions and a solution beer mat under the name "Drink Problems" in the Belgrade publishing house Caissa Commerce .

In his OTB is Elo rating 2121 (April 2020); his highest Elo rating was 2213, which was his first Elo rating.
