Arno Zude (born May 24, 1964 ) is a German chess player and problem chess specialist .

He has the titles of Grand Master in Solving Chess Problems and Studies (since 1988) and International Master of FIDE (since 1995). His younger brother Erik (* 1965) is also an international champion.

In 1994 he won the world championship in solving chess problems and studies. He won the German championships in this discipline in 1983 in Königswinter , 1985 in Sinsheim , 1986 in Münster , 1988 in Odenthal- Eikamp, ​​1989 in Everswinkel , 1990 in Moers , 1991 in Leimen (Baden) , 1992 in Limburg an der Lahn , 1993 in Furth im Wald , 1994 in Fischbach (near Kaiserslautern) , 1998 in Treuen , 1999 in Georgsmarienhütte , 2001 in Ilfeld , 2007 in Wiesloch and 2013 in Bremen . He was also German champion in Stein in 2002 and in Aalen- Unterkochen in 2009 , each time as runner-up in the International German Championship behind Piotr Murdzia .

With a rating of 2622, it is in eleventh place in the PCCC solver world ranking (as of July 1, 2012). His highest achieved Elo number in solving chess problems was 2727. With this rating, he was in third place on the world solver rankings.

On December 7, 2005, Arno Zude was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf , the highest sporting award in Germany.

Tournament chess

He became Hessian individual chess champion in 1986 in Vellmar , 1992 in Limburg an der Lahn, 1994 in Maintal - Dörnigheim , 2007 in Erlensee , 2016 in Flörsheim am Main and 2017 in Frankfurt am Main . He won the Hessian championships in blitz chess in 1985 in Rüsselsheim , 1987 in Oberursel (Taunus) , 1990 in Klein-Karben and 1992 in Hofheim am Taunus .

At the German individual championship in 1995 in Binz , he finished 1st – 5th. Space; however, Christopher Lutz emerged victorious from the subsequent rapid chess play- offs for the title . 

Chess club he plays for SV 1920 Hofheim , with whom he in the seasons 1989/90 , 1994/95 , 2003/04 , 2004/05 , 2017/18 and 2018/19 in the first Bundesliga and many years second in the Bundesliga (first played in the 1987/88 season). Since 2013 Arno Zude has also been chairman of SV Hofheim . From 1997 to 2000 Arno Zude played in the 1st Bundesliga at PSV Duisburg .
