The city of Erlensee is directly connected to the Bundesautobahn 66 (Frankfurt – Fulda) and the Bundesautobahn 45 . The State Road 8 / Federal Highway 40 led earlier by Rückingen. The regional roads L3193 and L3268 as well as the district roads K 850 and K854 also serve the city's regional traffic .

There is no direct train connection in the city of Erlensee, the next train stations are in the neighboring municipalities of Hanau, Rodenbach and Langenselbold. It remains to be seen how the vacated rail connection to the Langendiebach air base will be used in the future.

The KreisVerkehrsGesellschaft Main-Kinzig (KVG) ensures local public transport within the framework of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund .

In addition to a helicopter squadron and various other military units and equipment, several hundred Americans were also based here. The area has meanwhile been abandoned by the American Army and is now owned by the "Zweckverband Fliegerhorst Langendiebach" founded by the cities of Bruchköbel and Erlensee. This special purpose association was founded to mark the area of the air base.

The Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) also has a base in Erlensee. In addition to the Technical Train, various specialist groups from the State of Hesse are stationed there. The two rapid action groups flood protection and lighting are also based there.

Educational institutions

Commercial areas

Langendiebach Air Base

A master plan was drawn up for the former military airfield at Langendiebach Air Base. This provides for large commercial areas to be created on the site. The logistics industry in particular is interested in the space, as the site is located in the Rhine-Main metropolitan region and near the motorway and airport. In order to optimize transport connections, the existing siding is to be reactivated and the site is to be connected to public transport. In addition to large commercial areas, leisure areas are also to be created on the site. It is also planned that the sports center in the city center will be relocated to the site of the former air base.

Currently (October 2015) the first companies have started operations. The approximately 100 hectare site resembles a large construction site.

On the beune

Also in the Langendiebach district, a comparatively small industrial area “Auf der Beune” is currently being developed. In contrast to the large industrial areas “Gewerbepark Erlensee” (a good 35 hectares) and “Gewerbepark Fliegerhorst Langendiebach”, mainly small companies are to be settled here; Established companies should be given the opportunity to expand.
