Gia Nadareishvili

Gia Nadareishvili ( Georgian გია ნადარეიშვილი ; born September 22, 1921 in Tbilisi ; † October 3, 1991 ) was a Georgian chess player . He was one of the leading study composers in the Soviet Union . The psychiatrist at a Tbilisi clinic specialized in endgame studies.

Life

Nadareishvili began composing studies as a student in 1938. In the same year he won first prize in a Soviet tournament. In total he composed around 500 studies. Since 1947 he was President of the Georgian Commission for Chess Composition and a member of the Central Committee.

Until shortly before his death, Nadareishvili took part as a delegate of the Soviet Union in the annual meetings of the Standing Commission for Chess Composition at FIDE ( PCCC ) . There, together with John Roycroft, he initiated the establishment of the Study subcommission (sub-commission for studies), which has been working reliably to this day.

Nadareishvili was the chief neurologist in the neurological department of the “1. Tbilisi Clinic ”. He was an Honored Doctor of Georgia .

Nadareishvili published some works on studies. In 1975 Schachmatny etjud w Grusii the development of study composition in Georgia is documented in detail and in the foreword by Wascha Neidse an overview of the work of the country's composers is given.

In 1990 an encyclopedia Mat w etjudach was published together with Iuri Akobia . In this book, 3,567 mate studies are systematically classified according to their mate management .

The FIDE awarded him in 1960 the title of International Referee for chess compositions and in 1980 the title of Grand Master of chess problem .
