Claude Goumondy

Claude Goumondy (born July 19, 1946 in Belmont ) is a French chess composer .

Chess composition

Since 1965, Claude Goumondy has published over 2000 chess problems, including more than 900 three-moveers, 150 multi-moveers and auxiliary mats . 550 tasks received awards, including 290 prizes and 60 a first prize.

Goumondy prefers cyclical changes in the features of white or the variants, as well as geometric themes. He composed numerous tasks. The following task shows the difficulties associated with such record attempts.

A cyclical change of moves 2, 3, 4 and 5 from white. However, an exact analysis of the task even in these variants proves the existence of duals, which strongly dilutes the presented topic for the solver.

In 1984 Goumondy was appointed International Chess Composition Referee . In 1984 he was awarded the title of Grand Master for Chess Composition . At that time he was the youngest chess composer who could achieve this qualification.

Goumondy is a physics and chemistry teacher. From 1977 to 1982 he was the editor for two- and three-move chess problems in the magazine diagrammes and from 1980 to 1981 he was the editor of the chess column in Courrier des Échecs . He is the author of a number of theoretical articles on chess composition.
