List of areas for nature or landscape protection in Serbia
In Serbia , around 7,320 km² are designated as a national or nature park. One reason for this is that Serbia is 30 percent forested and most of it is natural.
General
In Serbia, all five of the nine European biomes meet. According to the IUCN , the Serbian territory, along with the Bulgarian mountains, is one of the 153 centers of natural biodiversity. 38.93 percent of European plant species , 51.16 percent of European fish species , 74.03 percent of European bird species and 67.61 percent of European mammal species are represented in the territory of Serbia . 1,600 of the wild plant and animal species existing in Serbia are internationally recognized as extremely important. In part, there are also endangered animal species that are now living in protected areas in Serbia's various protected areas.

- 1,400 species of algae
- 565 species of moss
- 650 species of mushrooms
- 131 species of fish
- 30 amphibian and reptile species
Each protected area is managed individually and is subject to state supervision by the Ministry of Nature Conservation and Spatial Development. Currently 5% of the entire Serbian territory is under state protection. There are strong efforts from many sides to reach over 10% by 2010 .
