Viktor Ivanovich Tschepizhny

Viktor Ivanovich Tschepischny ( Russian Виктор Иванович Чепижный ; born February 18, 1934 in Dnepropetrovsk , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Russian chess composer . He is a physics engineer and journalist by profession.

Chess composition

Since 1956 Tschepischny published more than 300 chess problems, about half of them were awarded prizes, including 80 first. He was five-time USSR champion in the two-man division (7th-9th championship 1965-1969, 16th 1985, 17th 1987) and a prize winner in five other championships. He is master of sports of the USSR .

Together with Lew Loschinski he won the gold medal and the silver medal in the two-move and also with Loschinski the bronze medal in the three-move in the tournaments for the Chess Olympiad in 1960 in Leipzig . In the WCCI 1998–2000 he was individual world champion in the two-person division and 2004–2006 in the auxiliary matt division .

Tschepischny's skills as a chess composer developed in collaboration with Valentin Rudenko . Together with him composed more than 100 chess problems. Characteristic of Tschepischny's work are the originality of ideas, pointed play and the pursuit of simplicity. His favorite genres are two-move with changing themes, three-move and auxiliary mat.

In 1965 Tschepischny was appointed international referee for chess composition , in 1980 he became Grand Master for Chess Composition of the USSR and in 1989 Grand Master for Chess Composition of the World Chess Federation.

Chess official

Tschepischny has been editor-in-chief of the chess editorial team at the Fiskultura i sport publishing house since 1977 . From 1982 he was vice-president of the PCCC , 1980 to 1989 chairman of the Central Commission for Chess Composition of the Chess Federation of the USSR.
