Russian Chess Federation

The Russian Chess Federation ( Russian Шахматная федерация России / Schachmatnaja Federazija Rossii, 2019 Russian Российская шахматная федерация / Rossiyskaya schachmatnaja Federazija) is the national umbrella organization for chess players of Russia , based in Moscow . It was launched on February 15, 1992 at the founding congress as the successor to the Soviet Chess Federation . He sees his main tasks in promoting the game of chess in Russia and in representing the interests of its members at home and abroad. The federation is a member of the World Chess Federation ( FIDE ) and the National Olympic Committee of Russia.

The tasks of the association include the development and supervision of the training system for the highly qualified chess players, assistance with the transport of young people and the organization of chess tournaments and other chess events. Russian youth championships are held annually to make the game more attractive for children and young people and to further increase the chess skills of the young talents. Since 1992, Russia has often hosted top-class international tournaments. The Tal Memorial in Moscow is one of the most important tournaments in the world.

The federation is the self-governing communal association made up of the member federations of the sub-republics, regions , areas , cities of federal rank and the autonomous regions or districts . Until the beginning of 2010, the governing bodies consisted of the Congress, the Executive Committee and the Presidium. In the course of the redesign, the Executive Committee and the Presidium were replaced by the Supervisory Board and the Management Board. In February 2014 the office of President was re-established. The congress as the highest body of the association is formed from the delegates of the member associations and convened at least once every four years.
