Guarapuava (officially Município de Guarapuava ) is a city in the southern center of the Brazilian state of Paraná on the Guarapuava plateau , the Terceiro planalto paranaense . According to the 2010 census, the city had 167,328 inhabitants. The population estimate of the IBGE on July 1, 2013 was 175,779 inhabitants, who are called Guarapovanos. Guarapuava is 361 km from Paranaguá and 258 km from the state capital Curitiba . Guarapuava is the seat of the Guarapuava diocese .
City structure
Guarapuava is divided into the four districts ( distritos ) Entre Rios , Guairacá, Guará and Palmerinha and these are divided into 19 Bairros.
City administration
City prefect ( prefeito municipal ) has been Cesar Augusto Carollo Silvestri Filho of the Partido Popular Socialista (PPS) since the local elections in 2012 .
