Paulius Pultinevičius

Paulius Pultinevičius (born November 24, 2001 in Marijampolė ) is a Lithuanian chess player .

Life

Paulius Pultinevičius plays chess and has attended chess lessons since he was six. He won the first chess prize as a primary school student in Palanga in 2011. Paulius is studying at the Rygiškių-Jonas-Gymnasium Marijampolė . He also attends the local sports school ( Marijampolės žaidimų sporto mokykla ). His trainer is FM Rolandas Martinkus (* 1966), head of the chess club "Sūduva" in Marijampolė. In 2020, Pultinevičius will play for KSz Hetman Płock in the Polish Ekstraliga .

Paulius Pultinevičius has been taking part in the Lithuanian National Chess Championship since 2015. He has held the title of International Master since 2017 and is the first in the Lithuanian U-18 rating and the youngest Lithuanian IM. Pultinevičius was a Lithuanian U-14 champion and took part in the European Youth Championship in chess . He took part in the 2016 Chess Olympiad in Baku with the Lithuanian national team. After fulfilling three standards for the title of grandmaster at the Baltic zonal tournament in Palanga in 2018, the 2019 European Championship in Skopje and the 2019 Riga Technical University Open , he has been holding the title of grandmaster since autumn 2019.

In August 2020 it reached its highest rating to date of 2519.
