Wassili Wiktorowitsch Papin ( Russian Василий Викторович Папин , spelling for the World Chess Federation FIDE Vasily Papin; born September 21, 1988 in Moscow ) is a Russian chess player .

Life

At the European Youth Championship in the U12 age group in 2000 in Kallithea (Chalkidiki) , he finished third. He won the 2004 youth tournament in Rybinsk with 8 points from 8 games. At the Moscow championship in blitz chess 2010, which was won by Alexander Morozevich before Mikhail Kobalija , he reached third place. In the same year he was fifth at the student world championship in Zurich . He is the captain of the Namibian national team at the 2018 Chess Olympiad in Batumi .

He played club chess in the Russian , Icelandic and German team championships. In the German Federal Chess League he played for SV 1930 Hockenheim in the 2013/14 season .

In September 2006 he was awarded the title of International Master . He achieved the standards for this in the B group of the Aeroflot Open in February 2004 in Moscow, at an international GM tournament in November of the same year in Serpuchow and at the Orienta International tournament at the turn of 2005/06 in Moscow. Since February 2011 he has held the title of Grand Master . He achieved the standards for his GM title at the 7th NK Aratovsky Memorial Open in Saratov in July 2007 and at the Michail Chigorin Memorials in Saint Petersburg in October 2009 and November 2010.
