Martin Neubauer (born April 17, 1973 ) is an Austrian chess player and trainer and international master .

Life

Martin Neubauer grew up in the Tiefgrabenrotte in Frankenfels ( Lower Austria ) as the son of an installer and a secondary school teacher. After attending the local elementary and secondary school, he graduated from the Bundesoberstufenrealgymnasium in St. Pölten , after which he studied at the University of Vienna . He holds the academic degree Magister.

After working as a teacher at the University of Wroclaw in Poland , several stays in Brazil followed .

Among other things, he played in the Austrian Bundesliga (state league until 2003) from 1999 to 2002 for SV NÖ Melk-Wachau, in the 2008/09 and 2012/13 seasons for ASVÖ St. Veit and in the 2017/18 season for SK Ottakring, was the coach of the national team of Trinidad and Tobago and was the youth coach of the Austrian Chess Federation . From 2005 to 2007 he played in Bavaria for the Traunstein / Traunreut chess community, in 2008 he moved to the German league team SV 1930 Hockenheim and was part of the 1st Bundesliga team in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons . In the Slovak extra league he played for ŠKŠ Dubnica from 2007 to 2011.

Successes in chess

Martin Neubauer has been playing chess since his early youth and has won numerous regional tournaments here. His greatest success was the Austrian Vice State Champion title for youth. In 1989/1999 he reached second place in the Austrian state correspondence chess championship .

In 2003 he was third at the Austrian State Championships in Hartberg behind Nikolaus Stanec and Norbert Sommerbauer . At the state championships in Gmunden in 2005 , he came second behind Nikolaus Stanec.

For the Austrian national team Martin took Neubauer at the Chess Olympiads in 2000 in Istanbul , in 2002 in Bled , 2004 in Calvia , 2006 in Turin , 2008 in Dresden , 2010 in Khanty-Mansiysk and 2012 in Istanbul in part, also on all six European Team Championships of 2001 bis 2011 .

He has held the title of International Master since September 2001 and has been a FIDE trainer since 2006 . In February 2015 he was 14th in the Austrian Elo ranking of active players.
