Bavarian Chess Federation

The Bavarian Chess Federation eV (BSB) is the regional association of the Bavarian chess clubs and represents them in the German Chess Federation .

He is a member of the Bavarian State Sports Association (BLSV). The federal seat is in Nuremberg .

history

founding

The Bavarian Chess Federation was founded on June 28, 1885 in Munich. The chess composer Adolf Bayersdorfer became the first president . After four congresses were held between 1886 and 1893, the federal government became inactive and effectively ceased its activities.

First start-up

Johannes Schenzel arranged for the covenant to be revived. On September 23, 1906, it was re-established in Nuremberg. As a result of his initiatives, chess life in Bavaria flourished and many new clubs were founded.

Although the Palatinate founded the Palatinate Chess Federation on November 20, 1921 , it was a subsidiary of the Bavarian Chess Federation until World War II .

Second start-up

After the Second World War, the Bavarian Chess Federation was revived in February 1947. Bavaria experienced a great boom in the 1950s: the 1958 Chess Olympiad was organized in Munich and at the same time became the regional association with the largest number of members within the German Chess Federation.

District Associations

The association is subdivided into the district associations Upper Franconia, Middle Franconia, Lower Franconia, Upper Palatinate, Lower Bavaria, Upper Bavaria, Munich and Swabia.
