Igor Aleksandrovich Novikov ( Ukrainian Ігор Олександрович Новіков Ihor Oleksandrowytsch Novikov , Russian Игорь Александрович Новиков Igor Alexandrovich Novikov * 23. May 1962 in Kharkov , Ukrainian SSSR ) is an American chess player of Ukrainian origin. From July 2000 to January 2003 he was in the top 100 of the Elo list.

National team

Novikov won the U26 team world championship with the Soviet Union in 1985, he also achieved the best individual result on the fourth board. Novikov took part in three Chess Olympiads , in 1992 and 1996 with Ukraine and in 2004 with the United States. He achieved second place as the best result in 1996 with the team. In his only participation in a European team championship , Novikov also took second place with Ukraine in 1992 and also took part in the world team championship with Ukraine in 1997 and the USA in 2005 .

societies

Novikov played in Ukraine for the Donbas Alchevsk team, with whom he also took part in the 1993 European Club Cup . In the Austrian State League he played in the 1993/94 season for SK Merkur Graz, with whom he also took part in the European Club Cup three times, Novikov won the Hungarian team championship in 2000 and 2001 with the team from Miskolci SSC, with which he also played in 1999 European Club Cup.
