Swiad Isoria ( Georgian ზვიად იზორია ; born January 6, 1984 in Choni , Imereti , Georgian SSR ) is a Georgian chess master. He has been playing for the US Chess Federation since March 2013 .
Life
Isoria came to a chess club in Choni, Georgia , when she was eight or nine years old . His family later moved to Saint Petersburg during the Civil War , where Isoria received lessons from strong chess coaches, most recently from Alexei Juneyev . In 1996 the family settled back in Georgia, where Isoria had to do without a permanent chess coach. Isoria lives in Tbilisi today .
Chess career
He won a large number of national youth championships, in 2000 he was U16 youth world champion, in 2001 he was European youth champion in the U18 and U20 categories and vice world champion U18. In 2002 he was again European youth champion U20, second in the Georgian championship of adults and was awarded the title of grandmaster by FIDE . In the same year he represented Georgia at the Chess Olympiad for the first time , in 2004 and 2008 he again took part in the Chess Olympiad. In 2003 he celebrated shared victories in Izmir and Hoogeveen . In 2004 he finished second after Vasyl Ivanchuk at the Tigran Petrosian Memorial in Yerevan . In 2005 he celebrated his greatest success to date: In Minneapolis, he won one of the best endowed open in the world, ahead of Gata Kamsky , Alexander Beliavsky , Pentala Harikrishna , Jaan Ehlvest and Artur Jussupow , among others . Isoria was able to qualify twice for the World Chess Cup . While he failed in the first round at Sergey Erenburg in 2005 , he could not take part in 2007 because his entry visa was not ready on time. In the United States Chess League he played for Manhattan Applesauce in 2013 and 2015 and won the title in 2015 . With his highest rating to date of 2660 in July 2006, he was 48th in the world rankings.
