Lewan Panzulaia ( Georgian ლევან ფანცულაია , born February 26, 1986 in Tbilisi ) is a Georgian chess player .
Life
In 2002 he became U-16 world champion . His greatest success so far was in 2007 when he won the Dubai Open in front of Qədir Hüseynov tied on points . In 2008 he was Georgian individual champion in Tbilisi. In 2005 he took part in the World Chess Cup . With wins against Vadim Milov and Surya Shekhar Ganguly , he reached the third round, in which he failed to Boris Gelfand .
Panzulaia has been a grandmaster since 2005 . He fulfilled the required standards (all with over-fulfillment) in August and September 2003 at the European Izmir Economy University Grand Prix, a month later at the European Club Cup in Rethymno and in June 2005 at the European individual championship in Warsaw . In February 2015, it is located behind baadur jobava in second place of the Georgian rating list .
Team chess
Panzulaia took the Georgian national team at the Chess Olympiads in 2006 , 2008 , 2010 , 2012 and 2014 in part, also on the team's World Cup 2005 and the European Team Championships in 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2013. He reached 2007 in Heraklion , the third highest individual score on the third board. He took part in the European Club Cup in 2003 with Tbilisi and in 2005 with I&A Tbilisi , and in 2003 he achieved the second-best result on the sixth board. In the Spanish team championship he played in 2007 for CA Cuna de Dragones-Ajoblanco Mérida . Panzulaia won the Swedish team championship in 2018 with Malmö AS .
