Qədir Hüseynov (at the World Chess Federation FIDE Gadir Guseinov ; born May 21, 1986 in Moscow ) is an Azerbaijani chess player .

Life

Although he was born in Moscow, Hüseynov grew up in Saint Petersburg . In 1991 his family moved to Gəncə , Azerbaijan. From 1994 to 1998 the family lived in Moscow for professional reasons and Hüseynov played in Russian youth national teams. In 1998 the family moved to Baku .

Chess career

In May 1994, at the age of eight, he won the U10 European Championship in Băile Herculane, Romania , for which he was awarded the title of FIDE Master (FM). In the history of the European Chess Championships he is the youngest winner and to this day (as of July 2007) the youngest player in the sport of chess to receive the FM title. In October 2000 he became International Master , and since March 2002 he has had the title of Grand Master . He achieved the standards for the GM title at a First Saturday tournament in Budapest in June 2001, the second standard at a tournament in Ukraine in August 2001 and the third standard also in August 2001 when he won a First Saturday GM tournament in Budapest.

In 1996 he won the Moscow and Russian U10 championships, and in 1998 he became Russian U12 champions. In July 2003 he won a GM tournament and in October 2003 an Open in Tambov . At the Dubai Open in April 2007, he finished second, tied with the winner Lewan Panzulaia .

For Azerbaijan he took part in seven Chess Olympiads ( 2002 , 2004 , 2006 , 2008 , 2010 , 2012 and 2014 ). In 2004 in Calvià , he received a bronze medal for his result of 8 out of 10 on the fourth board. At the 2018 Chess Olympiad in Batumi he was the captain of the Azerbaijani team. Huseynov also took part in the World Team Championships in 2010, 2011 and 2013 and the European Team Championships in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2013, in part. In 2009 he won the European Team Championship in Novi Sad and in 2013 in Warsaw , where he received an individual silver medal in 2013 for his result of 4 out of 6 on the reserve board.

He also plays club chess in Azerbaijani (for SOCAR Baku , with whom he won the European Club Cup in 2012 , and for Odlar Yurdu ) in Iranian (2005 for Petroshimi Bandaremam , from 2006 for Sanate Nafte Abadan ), Turkish (for Adana Truva Satranç ), Spanish (from 2008 for Servigar Binissalem ), Ukrainian (2011 for champions A DAN DZO & PGMB Tschernihiw ) and from 2009 in Macedonian (for Alkaloid Skopje ) leagues. In the German Federal Chess League he was registered for SV Wattenscheid in the 2008/09 season , but was not used due to visa problems, among other things. As of November 2018, he is in sixth place in the Azerbaijani Elo ranking.
