Namiq Quliyev (or Namig Gouliev ; born February 13, 1974 in Beyləqan , Beyləqan Rayon ) is an Azerbaijani chess player .

Single successes

In April 2003 he won a rating tournament in Nancy with 9 points from 9 games, in July 2003 the 7th International Open in Bischwiller and in August 2003 the International Open in Charleroi . In August 2004 he won the 11th Open International d'Ete in Nice and in November 2004 the 11th Open de Lutece in Paris (with 7 out of 7). In September 2005 he won the Young Masters Open in Lausanne (together with Tigran L. Petrosjan and Daniel Fridman ) and in October 2005, after a fine evaluation, the Klaus Junge Open in Hamburg . In December 2006 he won the Tournoi de Grands Maitres in Paris by two points. In February 2007 he won the 5th Festival Meurthe et Moselle tournament in Nancy, in July 2008 the 42nd International Festival in Bagneux , in November 2008 tied ahead of Alberto David the Évry Open and in April 2009 the 27th Open in Metz . He won the international Open in Malakoff in April 2010 and April 2013, the HSG Open in Hilversum in June 2012 and June 2013.

In 2011 he took part in the World Chess Cup , but failed in the first round to Baadur Dschobawa .

Namiq Quliyev, who lives in Paris , has held the title of Grand Master since August 2005 . He achieved the three necessary standards for this in July 2004 at the international Paris championship, in the French team championship 2004/05 and in July 2005 at an open tournament in Illkirch-Graffenstaden . As of February 2015, he is ninth in the Azerbaijani Elo ranking.

Team chess

Quliyev played on the third board of the Azerbaijani national team at the 1994 Chess Olympiads in Moscow and 2006 in Turin . At the European team championships in Gothenburg in 2005 , he had belonged to the reserve board for the Azerbaijani squad, but was not used.

He plays for clubs in France ( 2004 for Echiquier Nanceien , 2005 for Bischwiller , 2007 for Paris Chess XV , 2009 for Pion du Roi - Lèves ), Belgium (for Cercle d'Échecs Fontainois , with whom he was champion in 2019 ), the Netherlands (for En Passant Bunschoten-Spakenburg , with whom he was champion in 2016 ), Hungary (for Aquaprofit NTSK , with which he was champion in 2017 ) and Luxembourg (for De Sprénger Echternach , with whom he was Luxembourg team champion in 2005 ). In Germany he has been playing for the Eppingen chess club since the 2007/08 season , initially in the 1st Bundesliga and in the 2015/16 season in the 2nd Bundesliga .
