The tournament was divided into a preliminary round and a final round. The eight participating teams first played a simple round-robin tournament . The first four played for the title in Poule Haute , the last four in Poule Basse against relegation. The total of the team points (2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a defeat), then the number of board points (3 points for a win, 2 points for a draw, 1 point for a one loss, 0 points for one loss without a fight). For the final placement, both the points from the preliminary round and the points from the final round were taken into account.
Game dates
The competitions were held on November 7, 21 and 28, December 12, 2004, January 2, 16 and 30, February 13 and 20 and March 13, 2005.
Dudelange and Echternach went tied in the final round with 12: 2 points, and Dudelange was just ahead in terms of board points. After both title candidates started with victories in the final round, Echternach took over the table lead with a direct comparison and maintained this in the final round.
Nordstad's relegation was practically sealed after the preliminary round, the decision on the second relegation place was practically made in the first round, when Differdange's second team lost to Bonnevoie and then was four points behind the saving sixth place.
