Rıfat Bağırov

Rıfat Bağırov (with the World Chess Federation FIDE Rufat Bagirov ; born October 10, 1979 ) is an Azerbaijani chess player .

He has held the title of chess grandmaster since 2002 . His Elo rating is 2429 (as of April 2020), but he is listed as inactive because he has not played an Elo-rated game since a tournament in Moscow in July 2016. His highest rating to date was 2541 in July 2002.

For the Azerbaijani national team he played at the European team championships in 1999 in Batumi on the first board and the 2000 Chess Olympiad in Istanbul on the fourth board.

In 1998 he won the Azerbaijani individual championship in Baku , at the Azerbaijani championship 2011, also in Baku, he was second behind Nicat Məmmədov .
