Rəşad Babayev
Rəşad Babayev (at the World Chess Federation FIDE Rashad Babaev ; born September 3, 1981 in Baku ) is an Azerbaijani chess player .
In October 2001 he won the Independence Day tournament in Baku by 1.5 points and in September 2003 the 5th International Open in Bābol by two points. In December 2006 he won the Mevlana Chess Festival in Konya , in August 2007 the 24th Open Tournament in Collado Villalba . He won the Azerbaijani individual championship in January 2009 in Baku ahead of Fərid Abbasov . He was a youth coach at the Azerbaijani Chess Federation until 2009, and has been a chess coach in New York City since then .
In addition to Azerbaijan, he also plays club chess in Iran (together with Cəmil Ağamalıyev for Payamertebatate Gilan , a club from the Gilan province bordering Azerbaijan ) and in Turkey (together with Fərid Abbasov for Konyaspor ).
He has held the title of chess grandmaster since 2007. He had already achieved the necessary standards in November 2005 (in a tournament in Alushta in June 2004, at the 25th International Open in Benasque in July 2005 and in the A2 group at the 1st International Festival in November 2005 in Baku), but only reached the necessary Elo rating of 2500 in April 2007. Its Elo rating is 2525 (as of September 2018), but it is listed as inactive because it has been in New York's 6th international Championship has not played an Elo-rated game. Its highest to date was 2535 from April 2009 to February 2010.
