Subtype 94b

The type 94 is a multi-purpose coastal ship type from the Sietas shipyard in Hamburg-Neuenfelde .

history

The series was ordered by various shipping companies from the mid-1970s and manufactured in eight units from 1977 to 1979: four ships of the basic type 94, two of the subtype 94a and two of the subtype 94b. Depending on the construction variant, the ships were often used as container feeders on European feeder services and in timber transport until the 1990s. Later sales found them in coastal voyages around the world. The Ingvild (formerly Planet ) and the Heidi (formerly Hansedamm ) were subsequently converted into mini bulkers and each received a mobile excavator. Both ships are managed by the Norwegian company Mykleusthaug Management (as of March 2020).

technology

The series was produced in different variants. The first two ships of the basic type 94, the craneless Karen Oltmann and the Westermoor equipped with two 35-ton cranes on port side , had a length of 97.53 m. The two other units of the basic type 94, the crane-free Planet and the crane-free Peter Knüppel, were 98.73 m long. The ships of the subtype 94a, the Holstentor and the Holstendamm , which were equipped with 35-ton cranes, were 104.74 m long and, with their reinforced hulls, complied with ice class E2. The two units of the sub-type 94b were 109.94 m long and also had two 35-ton cranes.

The two (aft box-shaped) cargo holds with a bale volume of 6724 m 3 or 7345 m 3 (type 94 / 94b) are equipped for the transport of containers and the transport of dangerous goods containers. The standard equipment with Cellguides was dispensed with. Due to the shape of the holds, this type of ship can also be used in cellulose or parcel wood transport. In addition, the tank roof is reinforced for stowing heavy goods . Hydraulically operated folding hatch covers reinforced with heavy cargo were used.

The ships in the series are powered by four-stroke diesel engines from various manufacturers, which in the majority of ships act on a controllable pitch propeller . The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .
