Dawit Dschodschua

Dawit Dschodschua ( Georgian დავით ჯოჯუა , at the World Chess Federation FIDE Davit Jojua ; born June 8, 1989 in Samtredia , Imeretia ) is a Georgian chess player.

At the U10 European Youth Championship in 1999 in Litochoro , he finished third, as well as third place at the U14 European Championship in 2002 in Heraklion . At the U16 European Championship in Herceg Novi in 2005 , he was second behind Sawen Andriasjan . In the same year he shared victory in the Georgian U16 championship in Tbilisi . In 2009 he won the Tigran Petrosian Memorial in Tbilisi.

He plays club chess in Turkey for Ordu İdmanyurdu Spor Kulübü .

Since April 2009 he has had the title of Grand Master . He achieved the norms for this at the 1st Archil Ebralidze Memorial in Tbilisi in April 2007, which he won, at the U20 World Cup in Yerevan in October 2007 and at the European Championship in May 2008 in Plovdiv (with overachievement at 6.5 points from 11 games). He also achieved a GM standard at the 2nd Arcapita International Chess Championship in Manama in February 2009 , but he no longer needed it, as did his fifth GM standard at the 25th Open in Cappelle-la-Grande , where he did reached fifth place. In 2008 he had not yet reached the required Elo rating of 2500, so he had to wait almost a year before the title could be awarded to him.

His Elo rating is 2590 (as of September 2018), which puts him in fifth place in the Georgian Elo ranking. His highest rating to date was 2601 in February and March 2018.
