Ron Henley

Ronald Watson Henley (born December 5, 1956 in Houston , Texas ) is an American chess player.

Life

Ron Henley was awarded the title of International Master by FIDE in 1980 . In 1982 he and Walter Browne won a round-robin tournament with 26 participants in Surakarta / Denpasar in Indonesia . For this success he received the grandmaster title .

He works as a chess author and chess trainer, among others for Irina Krush . About the world championship fight in 1996 Henley wrote the book Elista Diaries ( ISBN 1-88335-822-1 ) together with Anatoly Karpov , as whose second he was active .

Henley's Elo rating is 2415 (as of August 2014), but he is listed as inactive as he has not played a rated game since the Summer Solstice Open held in Fort Lauderdale in July 2011 . It had its highest Elo rating of 2525 from July 1982 to July 1983.
