Alex Lenderman (actually Aleksandr Lenderman ; born September 23, 1989 in Leningrad ) is an American chess master with Russian roots.

Life

Lenderman learned chess from his grandfather when he was about nine years old while on vacation in Germany. His first trainers were Mikail Katz and Mikhail Trossman. Lenderman won numerous student tournaments in the United States and made rapid progress. In 2005 he won the U16 World Youth Championship in Belfort . In October 2005 Lenderman became International Master . He reached the required standards in August 2003 at a First Saturday tournament in Budapest , in March 2005 at the Foxwood Open in Mashantucket and in July 2005 at the 2005 World Open in Philadelphia , and he also won the U16 youth championship in July 2005 as IM -Standard counted. In 2008 he won the USCF Grand Prix , a special annual prize of $ 10,000 for high placements in US tournaments. In 2009 he achieved the required standards for the Grandmaster title , achieving them within 32 days: in Mesa, Arizona and in Philadelphia (at the World Open and International ). The title was awarded to him in April 2010. In 2011 he received the Samford Fellowship , a US $ 42,000 grant.

In the United States Chess League he played in 2008 and 2015 for the team from Manhattan Applesauce (2008 under the name Queens Pioneers ), with which he won the title in 2015 , in 2009 for the Philadelphia Inventors , in 2010 and 2012 for the New York Knights and 2014 for the Connecticut Dreadnoughts . In Germany he played in the 2012/13 season for the Solingen chess company in the German Federal Chess League . With the United States team, he won the 2013 Pan-American Team Championship in Campinas and also achieved the best individual result on the fourth board. In February 2015, he was 8th in the national ranking.
