Alexei Michailowitsch Junejew ( Russian Алексей Михайлович Юнеев ; at the World Chess Federation FIDE Alexey Yuneev; born September 13, 1957 in Leningrad ) is a Russian chess master and coach.

Career

Juneiev went through the chess school of the Leningrad Pioneer Palace, where he was trained by Vladimir Sak . At the first tournament of the pioneer palaces in Moscow in 1972 he defeated Vasily Smyslow and David Bronstein in the simultaneous play , and he also received the special prize for the most beautiful game.

In 1979 he graduated from the Leningrad State Pedagogical Heart Institute with a degree in chemistry in English . In 1980 he received the title of national master.

With Plastpolymer he won the Soviet VCSPS team championship in 1985. At the Leningrad City Championships in 1989 Junejew shared 1st – 4th. Space. In an extra tournament, he defeated his opponents, which included Konstantin Sakajew , and won. In 1993 he became an international master .

Formerly working as a school teacher, engineer and translator, he took up a coaching position at the Leningrad Pioneer Palace in 1985. In 1992 he was awarded the badge of the best in popular education . As a trainer or second, Junejew looked after Leonid Judassin , Nikita Witjugow and Maxim Matlakow, among others .

Junejew is listed as inactive at FIDE because he has not played a rated game since the Rilton Cup 2009/2010.
