Wadym Malachatko ( Ukrainian Вадим Малахатко ; born March 22, 1977 in Kiev ) is a Ukrainian chess player .

Life

Wadym Malachatko is married to the Women's Grandmaster (WGM) and International Master (IM) Anna Zozulia . Since January 2007 he and his wife have been playing for the Belgian Chess Federation.

He received the grandmaster title in 1999.

For Ukraine he played on the second reserve board at the 2000 Chess Olympiad in Istanbul , Ukraine finished third. Even in the victory of the Ukrainian team in 2001 in Yerevan in the team's World Cup , he played on the second Reserve Board, while at the European Team Championship in 2001 in Leon played on the fourth board.

In 1997 and 1998 he took part in the Ukrainian individual championship, which was held in Alushta , and finished in fifth place. In 1999 and 2004 he became the Kiev champion. In 2004 he won the International Open in Pic d'Anie, the International Open in La Fère , the 3rd Chess Open in Condom and the FE tournament in Bergamo . In October 2006, he was in Warsaw behind Yuri Drozdovski second in the European chess championship. In January 2007 he again won the Hilton Open in Basel and in October 2007 he was tied for second place behind Rainer Buhmann at the Winterthur Chess Week . In January 2008 he won the 83rd International Congress in Hastings , in July 2008 the Versterhavsturneringen , also known as the North Sea Cup , in Esbjerg , in August 2008 a grandmaster tournament in Panevėžys and in February 2009 the Arcapita with a half point lead International in Manama and the 17th Fajr International in Kish .

Malachatko plays club chess in the Ukrainian, French and Spanish (2007 and 2008 for the international chess school Kasparow-Marcote ) league operations. In the German Federal Chess League he played from the 2007/08 season to the 2011/12 season for SV Mülheim-Nord . In Belgium he won the team championship with Club Bredene in the 2007/08 season .

Until April 2009, he led the Belgian Elo ranking.
