Nils Axel Grandelius (born June 3, 1993 in Lund ) is a Swedish chess player .

Life

In addition to chess, Nils Grandelius successfully played youth football for the suburban club Dalby GIF in Lund .

He was a multiple Swedish chess schoolmaster and has been trained by the international master Emil Hermansson (* 1971) since 2005 , currently (as of 2009) by the grandmaster Tiger Hillarp Persson (* 1970). In September 2005 he won the SK Mummies Autumn Tournament in Lund. For the Swedish national team, he took part in the U16 Youth Olympiad in Doğubeyazıt in August 2006 . In July 2007 he won the Swedish U20 Junior Championship in Stockholm , in August 2008 the Valoz Cup as part of the chess summer in Olomouc , where he achieved a grandmaster norm, and in February 2009 an IM norm tournament in Lund. At the 2010 World Youth Championships he took third place in the U18 age group, and in 2011 he was U18 European Champion . In July 2015 Grandelius won the Swedish individual championship in Sunne .

Grandelius has held the title of International Master since November 2008. He achieved the norms for this at the international junior open in May 2007 in Ballerup , Denmark , the A group of the chess summer in August 2007 in Olomouc, Czech Republic, and the 24th Open in February 2008 in Cappelle-la-Grande, France (overachievement with six points nine games).

He has been a Grandmaster since July 2010. He achieved the standards for his GM title in Olomouc in 2008 and 2009 and at the 40th International Bosna Tournament in Sarajevo in May 2010.

In July 2015, Grandelius led the Swedish Elo ranking.

National team

With the Swedish national team Grandelius participated in the Chess Olympiads in 2010 , 2012 , 2014 , 2016 and 2018 , the World Team Championship in 2019 and the European Team Championships in 2011 , 2013 and 2015 in part.

He played club chess for SK Bara Bönder until 2008 , after which he first moved to Lunds ASK , then to Sollentuna SK and back to Lunds ASK . From 2015 to 2017 he played for Eksjö SK and in the 2017/18 season for Malmö AS . He won the Swedish team championship with Lunds ASK in the 2010/11 season and with Malmö AS in 2017/18, and in 2011 he took part in the European Club Cup with Lunds ASK . In Norway he played for Tromsø Sjakklubb , then for Kristiansund SK and since the 2013/14 season for Vålerenga Sjakklubb , with which he became Norwegian team champion in 2019 and also took part in the European Club Cup 2018. In the German Federal Chess League he played for SK Turm Emsdetten from the 2010/11 season to the 2015/16 season , and since the 2016/17 season he has been playing for the Hamburger SK . In the Danish Skakligaen Grandelius played from 2015 to 2017 for the Charlottenlunder club Philidor , with whom he was champion in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons , in the British Four Nations Chess League he played in the 2016/17 and 2018 / 19 for Cheddleton and in the Spanish División de Honor 2017 for CAC Beniajan Duochess .
