Erik Axel Åke Blomqvist (born October 19, 1990 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish chess player .

Team chess

He plays club chess at SK Rockaden Stockholm , and has been a member of the first team in the Elitserien since the 2006/07 season . With his club he was Swedish team champion in 2008 , 2009 , 2014 and 2016 , he also took part in the European Club Cups in 2008 and 2014, where he achieved the second-best result on the third board in 2008. In the Norwegian Eliteserien , Blomqvist plays for Nordstrand Sjakklubb in the 2016/17 season . For the Swedish U16 national team, he took part in the 2006 Junior Olympics in Doğubeyazıt , with the national team at the 2013 European Team Championships in Warsaw and 2015 in Reykjavík .

Title and rating

In November 2008 he received the title of International Master (IM for short). He achieved his first IM norm at the A-Open in Pardubice in July 2006. When overachieved with 6 points from 9 games, he won against Beata Kądziołka and played draws against the grandmasters Tomáš Likavský and Boris Sawtschenko . The second IM norm he achieved a year later, in July 2007, at the Politiken Cup in Helsingør , where he was able to defeat the grandmasters Alexander Stripunsky and Þröstur Þórhallsson and drew against Peter Heine Nielsen and Stellan Brynell . He achieved the final IM norm again in Pardubice, at the A-Open in July 2008. He did not need a fourth IM norm, which he achieved with 6 points from 7 games at the European Club Cup in Kallithea (Chalkidiki) in October 2008 more. Grandmaster is it since October 2013. He scored the standards noted in the U20 World Cup 2010 in Poland Chotowa , the policies Cup in Elsinore in August 2011 as well as a First Saturday GM tournament in Budapest in July, 2013.

In 2016 Blomqvist won the Swedish individual championship in Uppsala , in 2019 he was again Swedish champion in Eskilstuna ,

In July 2016, he was in fifth place in the Swedish Elo ranking.
