Þröstur Þórhallsson (at the World Chess Federation FIDE Throstur Thorhallsson ; born March 19, 1969 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic chess player .

He won the Icelandic individual championship in 2012 in Kópavogur . He played for Iceland at eleven Chess Olympiads : 1988 , 1992 , 1996 to 2008 , 2012 and 2014 . He also took part twice in the European team championships (2003 and 2007).

In 1987 he was awarded the title of International Master (IM). The title of Grand Master (GM) was awarded to him in 1996.
