Hjörvar Steinn Grétarsson (at the World Chess Federation FIDE Hjorvar Steinn Gretarsson ; born May 29, 1993 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic chess player .

He played for Iceland at four Chess Olympiads : 2010 to 2016 . He also took part in the European team championships four times (2011 to 2017).

He played in the Four Nations Chess League for the team Jutes of Kent ( 2011/12 and 2012/13 ) and Cheddleton and Leek Chess Club ( 2017/18 ).

In 2012 he was awarded the title of International Master (IM). He was awarded the title of Grand Master (GM) in 2013. He has held the title of FIDE trainer since 2015 .
