Héðinn Steingrímsson (born January 11, 1975 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic chess player .

In 1987 he won the U12 World Youth Championship in San Juan .

He won the Icelandic individual championship three times: 1990, 2011 and 2015. He played for Iceland at four Chess Olympiads : 1990 , 2008 , 2010 and 2018 . He also took part in the European team championships four times (2007 and 2013 to 2017).

In Belgium he was team champion with Cercle Royal des Echecs de Liège et Echiquier Liègeois in the 2006/07 season , in the German Bundesliga he played for the Stuttgart SF from 2002 to 2004 , in the 2005/06 season for Werder Bremen in the season 2007/08 for Godesberger SK and in the 2011/12 season for Hansa Dortmund .

In 1994 he was awarded the title of International Master (IM). The title of Grand Master (GM) was awarded to him in 2007.
