Snowball Waltz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A snowball waltz is a variant of the Viennese waltz that is used to quickly fill the dance floor. A single dance couple opens the dance. After a few bars it splits up, the lady chooses a gentleman from the dancers who are still standing at the edge of the dance floor, and the gentleman gets a lady accordingly. Now two couples are dancing. Again after a few bars, these pairs split up and get new partners. This goes on until the dance floor is full.

At a wedding party , the snowball waltz is often danced as a bridal waltz. The bride and groom begin the dance, the first time the bride dances with her new father-in-law and the groom with his new mother-in-law.
