Bridal Waltz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The bridal waltz , wedding waltz or bridal dance is the dance, with the bride and groom's wedding celebration open. It is mostly the Viennese waltz . Often times, the bride and groom choose a piece of music by Johann Strauss, for example the Danube Waltz or the Kaiserwalzer .

Meaning of the bride waltz

The first marriage waltz together has a great symbolic meaning. It symbolizes that the bridal couple has now become "one". This goes back to Greek mythology . In Plato's genesis of mankind, humans were originally a large sphere. However, since they angered the gods, they were separated. Since then, every person has been looking for the other, complementary half throughout their life. You can experience this addition in a couple dance. The two dancers form the original ball or a closed ring. Thus the bridal waltz has a symbolic content similar to that of the wedding rings , which symbolize bond and union.

Shapes of the bridal waltz

In addition to the traditional Viennese waltz, a slow waltz can of course also be danced as a bridal waltz . The rumba is a little less classic but also very popular . A more modern form of the bridal waltz is an expressive dance in which the bride and groom choreographed their love story for the guests.

Types of implementation of the bridal waltz

The bridal waltz can be danced completely by the bride and groom alone on the dance floor as a kind of performance for the guests. Another variant is that after a few bars the parents of the bride and groom and the groomsmen join. In order to involve several people in the dance, the bridal waltz can also be danced as a snowball waltz.
