Krisztián Szabó (born June 21, 1989 in Székesfehérvár ) is a Hungarian chess master .

Life

His father bought six-year-old Krisztián a chess computer and later brought him to the local chess club Fehérvár SE, where Ferenc Botos was his first coach. Since 1998 he has been a member of the ASE Paks, in whose first team he has played since the 2003/04 season in the NB I. Szabó László csoport , the highest Hungarian chess league. His coaches in Paks were Béla Molnár, then Miklós Orsó and, since 2003, László Hazai. In 2005 Szabó was named International Master , he had met the standards between November 2003 and December 2004 at three tournaments in Budapest . Szabó received the title of Grand Master in 2010 , and the mayor of Székesfehérvár personally congratulated him in the town hall. He met the required standards at a First Saturday tournament in Budapest in June 2009, in the 2009/10 Hungarian team championship and in February 2010 at the 26th Open in Cappelle-la-Grande .

He won or occupied top places in several tournaments: 1st place in the Hungarian U10 championship (1999), 1st place in the FS11-IM tournament Budapest (2003), 2nd place in the FS12-GM tournament Budapest (2004) 1st place at the Hungarian U16 championship (2005), 1st place at the FS10-GM tournament Budapest (2007), 1st place at the FS06-GM tournament Budapest (2009), 2nd place at the FS09-GM- Budapest Tournament (2009).

Szabó won the British Four Nations Chess League in the 2008/09 season with Wood Green Hilsmark Kingfisher , for whom he also played in the 2010/11 season. He played in the French top 12 in the 2012/13 2012/13 and 2014/15 seasons for Grasse Echecs . In February 2015 he was ranked 23rd in Hungary's Elo ranking.
