Gábor Kállai (* 21st February 1959 in Budapest , † 31 December 2021 ) was a Hungarian Chess - Grandmaster , -author, umpire and -funktionär.
Chess player
Kállai received the grandmaster title in 1995 . With the Hungarian team he traveled to the 2001 World Team Championship in Yerevan as captain and second reserve player, but had no use. At the 2002 Chess Olympiad in Bled he was the captain of the Hungarian national team; Hungary won silver. Kállai took top places in several tournaments: III. Place GM tournament Ulaanbaatar (1984), III. Place Hungaroil Tournament Siófok (1990) and II-III. 1st place in the GM tournament Balatonberény (1995).
Gábor Kállai died of a heart attack on New Year's Eve 2021 at the age of 62 .

In the German Federal Chess League he played for the Schachfreunde Neukölln in the 2001/02 season and in the Swiss National League A until 2000 for SK Bern . In France, Kállai plays for Cercle d'Echecs de Strasbourg . He took part in the European Club Cup six times between 1992 and 2007.
